The One Saturday Lake Havasu City's October Calendar Can't Actually Hold

October 1, 2026

Which Saturday are you actually keeping open this month?

If you pulled up the Go Lake Havasu events page and skimmed it top to bottom, October looks generous. A lantern festival early in the month, a Halloween weekend, a car show stretched across five days, a parade at the end. Four separate weekends, four separate reasons to leave the house. That's the version the calendar shows you. It's not quite the version that actually happens on the ground, because three separately organized events have each set their own plans for the same date, in three different parts of town.

That date is Saturday, October 24.

The Saturday Three Traditions Share

Start with what's confirmed for that day. The London Bridge Days Parade, the longest-running local celebration in Lake Havasu City, steps off at 10 a.m. on McCulloch Boulevard. Same morning, the Lake Havasu Halloween Scream gets underway at 8 a.m. at Sara Park, on the opposite side of the city. And that same weekend falls inside the run of Relics & Rods Run to the Sun, the classic car show that has its Show & Shine judging and Ladies Fashion Show scheduled for Saturday at Bridgewater Links Golf Course, with entrance and parking routed through Rotary Park.

Three events. Three different corners of the city. One Saturday.

None of these are competing for the same crowd exactly. A parade-and-family crowd downtown on McCulloch isn't necessarily cross-shopping the car show at Bridgewater Links, and Sara Park draws its own regulars. But if you're the person trying to get a resident's worth out of October, and you'd normally treat "Saturday" as a single unit of time you can spend one way, this is the month that punishes that assumption. You're not choosing between two options on October 24. You're choosing between three, and two of them sit far enough apart that doing all three in one day means a lot of driving and very little lingering at any of them.

Rotary Park Is Working Overtime

The car show detail points to something else worth knowing if you live here: Rotary Park isn't just the access road for one event this month, it's the anchor for two entirely separate ones, three weeks apart.

Havasu Halloween Haunt takes over Rotary Park on October 9 and 10 for what the official event listing describes as two days of live bands, a haunted house, pro wrestling, a car show and Harley show of its own, skateboard demos, and an Army recruiter pull-up challenge, with Kottonmouth Kings headlining both nights at 9 p.m. and more than 100 food and merchandise vendors on site. A portion of proceeds benefits Echo Group Band of Brothers, a veterans' support organization, according to Today's News-Herald, which also lists the fuller supporting band lineup: Property Six, Yawnee Gunna, TOB, Manicdotes, Dadadoh, Sick in the Head, and The Hardyville Stranglers. As The AZ Insider put it, "So, no, this is not a quaint little fall festival with cider and a hay bale."

Three weeks later, Rotary Park goes back to work as the entry point for Bridgewater Links Golf Course during Run to the Sun. Two different crowds, two different reasons to end up in that parking lot, in the same October.

If you live near Rotary Park or use that stretch of Smoketree as a regular cut-through, you have two weekends this month where local traffic patterns shift for reasons that have nothing to do with each other. Neither is a secret, exactly, but neither shows up as a single line item on a calendar app either.

The Two Weeks Nobody's Fighting Over

The flip side of the Oct 24 collision is that the middle of the month is comparatively open, which is its own kind of useful information if you're trying to plan around the noise rather than into it.

The Lake Havasu City Sky Lantern Festival by Lights Over America runs the evening of October 3, a full week before Halloween Haunt and Octoberfest both land on October 9 and 10. That double-booking of its own is worth flagging: Octoberfest and Halloween Haunt share the same weekend, which means the choice most residents will actually face isn't in the back half of the month, it's on the front end, between a beer-and-vendors event and a Kottonmouth Kings headlined festival happening at the same time.

Then there's a stretch of relative quiet before Run to the Sun opens. The official Go Lake Havasu page for the car show lists the 2026 run as October 21 through 25, five days built around a Thursday cruise night on Main Street, the Friday and Saturday Show & Shine at Bridgewater Links, a Car Corral and Swap Meet, and a Sunday pancake breakfast courtesy of Cub Scout Troop #992. Worth noting if you're mapping your week around it: at least one third-party events aggregator lists an earlier window for the same show, so if Run to the Sun is the one you're planning your schedule against, the event's own page is the version to trust, and it's worth a call to Relics & Rods directly if your plans depend on a specific day.

That show has real depth behind it. It started in 1978 as a gathering its founding club called "Camp-O-Rama," 28 cars strong. Almost fifty years later it draws more than 800 classic, restored, and hot-rod vehicles, plus factory muscle cars and Corvettes, and every dollar raised goes back into local charities.

What This Actually Changes About Your Month

None of this means October is overcrowded. It means October is unevenly loaded, with two dates doing most of the work and two stretches sitting open around them. If you're the kind of resident who wants to catch everything, the honest read is that you can't do it all on foot from one part of town. October 9 asks you to choose between Octoberfest and Halloween Haunt. October 24 asks you to choose between the parade downtown, the Scream at Sara Park, and the car show's Saturday slate at Bridgewater Links. The open week in between, roughly October 11 through 20, is the stretch where nothing is competing for your Saturday at all.

The lake itself just went quiet from its own version of this same collision. The Pro Watercross National Championship Finale wrapped September 25 through 27 at Lake Havasu State Park, with the tour's championship celebration held at Kokomo Beach Club right next to the bridge. That event capped a season built specifically around ending here, and it's a reminder that this city's fall calendar rarely spaces things out evenly. It tends to cluster around a handful of high-traffic weekends and leave the rest of the month for whoever wants it quiet.

If you're weighing which Saturday to actually keep clear this October, or you just want a second set of local eyes on what's worth building a weekend around, Destination Havasu spends its own Saturdays on this side of the bridge too. Reach out anytime.
